Source Code Pro was created by Paul D. Hunt as a monospaced alternative to Source Sans. The glyphs were adapted from Source Sans in response to a request for a typeface suitable for coding environments.
This typeface maintains the key visual characteristics and vertical proportions of Source Sans but adjusts the glyph widths to ensure uniform spacing across all characters and sizes.
Although Source Code Pro was primarily designed for coding, where a regular weight is typically sufficient, it has been released in multiple weights, similar to those available in Source Sans. The font supports a wide range of languages using the Latin script and includes all characters from the Adobe Latin 4 glyph set.
Source Code Pro is free for both personal and commercial use.
