Futura, designed by Bauer Type Foundry in 1928, is considered the basis of Germany’s Constructivist movement within the Bauhaus movement. Paul Renner, an American type designer, painter, author, and educator, made his first designs based on basic geometric shapes like triangles, circles, and squares. The design office Bauer helped Renner transform these geometric shapes into strong typefaces such as Futura.
Over time, Renner made modifications that simplified Futura for readers. The typeface features long ascenders and descenders, utilizing much of the spacing between lines to accommodate them effectively. Due to its variety of styles and weights, the Futura family is diverse and suitable for many applications.
It is for personal use only.
