Balney – Rounded Script Font

Balney is a heavy script with rounded stroke ends, so it looks more like a marker or a soft brush than a pen. The capital B on the specimen loops back on itself, and the y ends in a long, curling tail. The second preview, “Mickey Surfer” in blue on cream, is a good hint at the mood: beach towns, ice cream and summer merch.

It connects smoothly from letter to letter, and the weight stays even, so it holds up when printed small on a label or cut from vinyl. The full version from Zarma Type comes in OTF and TTF plus web fonts with multilingual support. The free demo is personal use only.

Best uses for Balney

  • Surf, skate and beachwear logos
  • Ice cream, café and bakery branding
  • Summer event posters
  • T-shirt and cap prints
  • Packaging labels and stickers

Font pairings

Balney looks best next to a straight, solid sans. Montserrat in Bold capitals works for taglines like the “Rounded Script Font” line in the specimen. Rubik keeps a friendly tone for body copy. For a vintage twist, add Oswald for prices and dates.
