Arena of Type released Serial Mono in 2025, designed by Prio Nurokhim Aji. It is a plain, even monospace with squared-off curves and simple, open shapes. Nothing about it is fussy, which is why it works as well for a block of economic news in the specimen as for a single big word on a poster.
The family covers five weights, Light, Regular, Medium, Semi Bold and Bold, plus a variable font that moves smoothly between them. Every character takes the same width, so tables, code and lists line up without extra work. The free download here includes OTF, TTF and WOFF files.
