Montserrat font was created by graphic designer Julieta Ulanovsky from Argentina and was officially launched in 2011. This geometric sans-serif font was inspired by advertisements, signs, and painted windows observed in the Montserrat neighborhood of Buenos Aires, dating back to the early 1900s.
Ulanovsky first introduced the project in late 2010 and later released Montserrat as part of the Google Fonts catalog in 2011. Since then, it has gained widespread popularity among web designers. As of the previous year, it was used on more than 17 million web pages.
Montserrat’s appeal lies in its massive x-height, short descenders, and large apertures, making it highly legible even at smaller sizes.
Over time, Montserrat has expanded into a complete font family with nine weights (from Thin to Black), a variety of special characters—including stylistic alternates—and full support for the Cyrillic character set. It even includes an underlined version.
Montserrat is free for personal use only.

Montserrat Font Family
Montserrat font was created by a Graphic Designer, Julieta Ulanovsky who was from Argentina and this font was officially launched in the year 2011. This geometric sans serif font was inspired by ads and signs and painted windows observed in the Montserrat Montserrat area in Buenos Aires dating back to the early 1900s.
Ulanovsky first released this project in late 2010, and released Montserrat as part of Google Fonts catalog in 2011. Since then, Montserrat has gained users rights among web-designers and at the previous year it was used in more than 17 mln web-pages.
This is driven by its massive x-height and short song that declines with giant apertures, although it is very legible even in the diminished font size.
Montserrat has grown into a complete family that consists of nine member sizes (Thin to Black), different types of characters such as battery characters, and it even has an underlined font, and is compliant with Cyrillic Character Set.
