Rimes is an elegant serif from Perfectype, released in 2024. It has strong contrast between thick and thin strokes, sharp serifs and a set of alternates that let letters such as R, E and S stretch out with long, curved tails. Used in capitals, it looks like a fashion masthead. Mixed with its ligatures, it starts to feel almost hand-lettered.
The full font comes in OTF, TTF and WOFF formats with numbers, punctuation and accented letters for Western European languages. Most of its charm is in the alternates and ligatures, so use software that gives you access to OpenType features, such as Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop or InDesign.
Best uses for Rimes
- Fashion, beauty and jewellery logos
- Magazine covers and editorial headlines
- Premium food and drink packaging
- Art portfolio and gallery titles
- Wedding stationery with a modern edge
Font pairings
Rimes works best with a quiet partner. Montserrat in Light or Regular gives a crisp, modern contrast for subheads and short copy. For body text, Source Serif 4 is a readable serif that won’t fight Rimes for attention. If you want a softer, more literary feel, set captions in Cormorant Garamond italic.
