Melun Font Family

Melun comes from Lift Type, the French foundry run by Romain Oudin and Manuel de Lignières. It is a clean sans with soft geometric curves, split into three subfamilies. Normal and High each run from Thin to Bold with matching italics. Display runs from Thin to Black and has no italics.

The Display cut is the playful one. Its e has an unusual flipped shape, which gives words like “Regular” and “Medium” a slightly odd, friendly face. The specimen sets a French history of the Renault Super 5 at 30, 50 and 70 point, and even the smallest paragraph stays open and easy to read. Each subfamily also comes as a variable font.

Font pairings

Melun is a full system, so pairings are optional. For a serif contrast, Literata works in long text. Fraunces brings personality to headlines. For code or data, JetBrains Mono keeps a similar clarity.
