Killam Slab Serif Font

Killam started life on garden labels, according to Stephen Nixon’s own note, and you can see why. The slabs are short and slightly wedged, the stems swell a little toward the top, and the lowercase has the warmth of a pen drawn letter while staying sturdy enough to read on a small tag. The preview sets the name in white over a lilac background framed by pink and white cosmos flowers.

The free file is one style, Killam Bold, as a TTF. It works best a little above text size, on a jar label, a book cover or a seed packet, where the calligraphic shapes have room to show. Nixon released it under the SIL Open Font License 1.1, which lets you use it for anything, including paid work, as long as you do not sell the font on its own.
