Heltar is a neo grotesque from The Northern Block, a British foundry. The specimen calls it a typeface born from the legacy of Helvetica and refined for the digital age, and it has that familiar plain, tightly spaced look, with a few extra choices on top.
Version 2.0 from 2024 has eight weights, each with an oblique. The alternates include a single storey a, a different g and a slashed zero, and the symbol set takes in fractions, maths signs and arrows. A sample block in red on dark navy runs “Identified Flying Object” from hairline to heavy, which shows off the range. This download includes 16 OTF files.
