Figo Shiftz – Editorial Serif Font

Propertype built Figo Shiftz Editorial for magazine work. The roman is crisp, with sharp, bracketed serifs and moderate contrast. The italic is more calligraphic, and the specimen shows how well the two mix: “The Ataliarc Studio” switches between upright and italic within one name and still looks planned.

The full family is large. Propertype lists nine weights from Thin to Black, matching italics, a variable font and more than 250 alternates and ligatures. The character set covers accented letters, fractions and currency symbols. The FreeFont.io file is a single OTF for personal use.

Best uses for Figo Shiftz

  • Magazine covers and article headlines
  • Fashion and beauty brand identities
  • Studio and agency websites
  • Book covers and title pages
  • Restaurant menus with a classic tone

Font pairings

Figo Shiftz handles most editorial jobs alone, so add a sans for interface text and captions. Inter is a safe choice for websites. DM Sans is a little rounder and friendlier. For small labels like “New York” in the specimen, Manrope in Medium works well.

Figo Shiftz – Editorial Serif Font FAQ

Is Figo Shiftz font free for commercial use?

No. Only personal use is allowed with the free file. Publications, branding and client work need a Propertype licence.

What is a free alternative to Figo Shiftz?

Newsreader and Source Serif 4 are open-licence editorial serifs with italics and several weights. Playfair Display is closer for big, high-contrast headlines.

Can I mix the upright and italic styles in one word?

Yes, and the specimen does exactly that. Keep the same weight for both and the switch looks intentional rather than accidental.
